Calm Down Party

Calm Down Party is a band based in Seattle, WA. They sound like a nice modern blend of Galaxie 500 meets Tiger Trap but with their own quirks and spins. What’s nice about Calm Down Party are the dreamy lyrics and vocals mixed with the roughness of the occasional (but intentional) distortion. For CDP’s newest EP release, as well as the next stage in the band’s life cycle, the band was looking for a set of merch that encapsulated their maturing sound. Along with said maturation, they also wanted to make sure that this new set of visuals maintained their roots of lulling dreaminess.

 T-Shirt Design

The primary graphic for this set of merchandise is housed among the shirt designs. The primary graphic showcases a group of swallows at the top as well as singular one at the bottom. They’re breaking through a sky that is featured through the primary pattern in the background. The sky maintains its shape while the clouds are colored by the shirt fabric. The shirt color for this set of designs is intentional in that it adds that extra element of dreaminess. Shirt color ranges from blue, to seafoam, to a periwinkle purple. Amongst the seemingly day-lit sky are two-toned stars that appear sporadically. To the side in a whimsical shape is the band name, Calm Down Party in all caps. This design comes in a set, one of blues and yellows and another light yellows, purples, and oranges.

Stickers

The sticker shape was very important while exploring what the sticker could be. One direction explored as that of using the primary star shape and encapsulating the swallow in the middle between the band name. Another direction depicted the swallow seemingly breaking free through the shape - similarly to the primary cloud graphic seen on the shirt. Ultimately, the primary and final sticker design resembles that of shirt with the dream-like coloration of the background.
