Starwood was looking for a way to display their destination spaces.
They were also looking for a responsive website that could act as both a tool for booking hotels and trips and also serve
as a digital brochure for their destinations to assist their clients with trip planning.
Update: A year after launch, Starwood was acquired by Marriott and as a result, the site has changed a bit.
The homepage was designed to be filled with high class imagery with a minimal and editorialistic approach with all content included.
Leveraging Masonry, we created a system among the grid space that used the spacing within the layout to its full capacity.
Homepage Destination Finder
The destination page is where the user goes after selecting a destination from the destination finder. Here, they learn about about their chosen destination. They're greeted with current weather updates, a map containing popular areas and sites, an events highlight carousel, a dynamic image grid containing articles and photographs of the selected destination that populates upon scrolling, facts on dining classes provided by The Luxury Collection property as well as property special offers. The bottom is then populated with social cues from recent destination visitors.
If a user decides to select an article from the home page or the destination page to read,
they're taken to a details article page where they can read more.
Naturally, we created mobile designs to assist with
fitting the content into an experience that was meant for mobile and expressed the intended functionality
